The new Easter-themed programme from Opus Orchestra, called ‘Let Your Spirit Fly', is a collaboration of artistic talents with the Opus orchestra joined on-stage in each city with the respective choirs – Hamilton Civic, Tauranga Civic, and Rotorua District. Performances will feature conductor Peter Walls and soloist Chalium Poppy.
'We are thrilled to work with baritone and baroque specialist Chalium Poppy in our Easter Concert Series,” says music director Peter Walls.
This concert opens with Haydn's reflection on Christ's final words from the cross and his dramatic evocation of the earthquake that followed his death. It will end with Mozart's ‘Prague' Symphony written at the same time as Don Giovanni and sharing its strongly dramatic character.
Explore a profound exploration of human suffering, of hope, of joy and exultation. As the final Mystical Song has it 'let all the world in every corner sing”.
