A show of flying hemlines and frills is happening for the first time in Katikati on Saturday, February 24, with the annual Frocks on Bikes event moving locations from Waihī Beach.

Katch Katikati events manager Kirst O’Rourke says the first event was held in 2015 and was such a hit with locals it’s been part of the summer events calendar ever since!

The event is designed as a family-friendly event coinciding with Bike Month, says Kirst.

“All you need is a frock, a bike, a drink bottle, sunblock and a helmet.

"Cyclists can choose from either a 9km or a 5km ride, exploring some of the local scenic cycle paths.”

Men (and boys) are encouraged to take part in the free event that has attracted up to 200 riders from as far away as Hamilton in past years.

Grab your frock, jump on your bike and enjoy a fun, cycling outing in Katikati with spot prizes up for grabs.

Register and meet at 10am on Saturday, February 24, in the carpark of Talisman Hotel, Katikati.
