Connecting the community

The Tauranga community will have the chance to connect with councillors and local community groups and discuss what's happening in their area at Tauranga City Council's next Community Connections get-together.

Hosted by the Community Development team, the get-together will take place on Thursday, March 10, from 7pm at the Mount Maunganui Golf Club at 15 Fairway Avenue.

Community Development Committee Chair Steve Morris said Community Connections was a chance for residents to talk to councillors and local groups and find out what's happening in their area.

'Community Connections has already been to a number of suburbs around Tauranga, and it's been really encouraging to see how many people have come along to share their ideas and ask questions,” Cr Morris said.

'The get-together is a great way to find out more about local projects including the Phoenix Park project and the Mauao Reserve Management Plan, as well as some of our other priorities like the Annual Plan and the Civic Heart project.

'We've also got another great line-up of representatives from local groups, who will have stands that people can visit to ask questions, get information or simply have a chat.”

Residents will have the chance to:

  • Meet Toi Te Ora – Public Health Service
  • Find out what Neighbourhood Support does in Mt Maunganui
  • Talk to Sport Bay of Plenty about their sporting needs
  • Visit the Sustainability Options stand and register for a free one-hour home visit
  • Connect with representatives of MP Todd Muller and MP Simon Bridges
