Recently, elected members agreed in principle to sell a piece of land at the Historic Village to TECT to enable them to build a community hub.

The proposal is now out about 4790m2 located on the eastern portion of the Historic Village located at 159 17th Ave. The land is zoned commercial business.

TECT also propose to partly develop an adjoining 4084m2 of land as a non-exclusive area which will remain as green space.

I recently had the privilege of handing out medals to the Bay of Plenty recipients at New Zealander of the Year Awards. It highlighted some of the good work that goes on in our community, much of it under the radar.

I also attended the Western Bay of Plenty Volunteer Excellence Awards and was impressed with the variety of volunteer work and commitment made by people in our region. Thank you to every volunteer who contributes to making our community a better place to live in.
