Kiwi stars no divas

Jackie Clarke and Annie Crummer embrace their roles in Tarnished Frocks and Divas.

Well-known performers Jackie Clarke and Annie Crummer have been visiting Tauranga regularly, but under the radar, to attend rehearsals for the 2015 show of Tarnished Frocks and Divas.

While the show's storyline is kept secret until opening night, the name ‘A Tangled Thread'suggests it will take women on an enlightening and hilarious journey to untangle the thread!

Jackie has starred in Tarnished Frocks and Divas since its inception in 2005 and is again leading the cast for this sixth biennial show. 'I have been in Tarnished Frocks and Divas so long it is almost part of my DNA,” she says.

Annie joined the cast in the 2013 show and loved it so much she is back for more. 'I am thrilled to work alongside this wonderful group of creative and dynamic women in a show which inspires, uplifts and empowers people.”

Annie plays a strong support role in this uniquely Tauranga ‘theatre of the catwalk', which features a cast of local women over the age of 40, most of whom are amateurs and many who have never performed in public before.

The show supports charities the Breast Cancer Support Service, Prostate Research Clinical School and Homes of Hope.

Executive Producer Denny Spee has produced every show.

'Ten years on and I am still as passionate and excited about this wonderful concept where revamped and contemporised retro garments are celebrated with drama, song and dance, all performed by gorgeous women aged over 40.”

This year's performance will see even more technology and special effects than previous shows, and involves more than 200 cast and support crew in the September 16-19 season at ASB Arena. Book at eventfinda.co.nz
